My day
Mid-way through my post-prandial stroll with Millie this evening, I watched a beaver paddling serenely across a sluggish crook in Willow Creek.
It occurred to me that today has been one of those “I-camp-for-a-living” days.
The fuzzy photo above was shot by Michele through a window screen when a carefree turkey — while I was involved with a breakfast of bacon and Honey Nut Cheerios — strolled past the trailer and continued across the campground. We might have attempted a better photo but that would have required a stealthy exit from the camper and the Cheerios would have gotten soggy.
Hours later, at what may actually have been the day’s highlight, we enjoyed a dinner of pan fried, bacon-stuffed rainbow trout… sizzling hot butter, fresh baby leeks, salt, black and white pepper, a dash of onion powder… and fried Yukon Gold potatoes.
In chronological order, that’s wild turkey, rainbow trout (gifted by a friend down the road) and a beaver. Plus bacon early and late.
What a day.
