Cheering for the underdog

Posted on October 1, 2023

In the panoply of fall foliage, the aspen in the west and the maple in the east collect all the plaudits. The aspen blankets whole mountainsides in golden cascades. The sugar maple, in its crimson glory, generates millions in tourist dollars for much of the northeast and mid-Atlantic states.

Unsung, but no less striking, is the elm. Like the specimen above, the startling yellow of its autumnal coat provides a scenic counterpoint to the sugar maple, represented here in the photo below.

Let’s hear it for the underdog, the lovely American elm.

When I have to break out my dictionary to read a post…I consider that a success. 🎉🤣

“The aspen blankets whole mountainsides in golden cascades.” Such a beautiful descriptions of the mountainside vistas in the Four Corners area, Colorado-NewMexico-Arizona-Utah in the fall. Some of the most stunningly beautiful sites I have ever seen. The splash of red color is always an amazing surprise though. Beautifully written Bill. Can’t decide whether to take the Lighthouse position I have been offered. I wonder why? 🤔

I don’t know why? How much time do you have to decide?
