We’re not in Kansas

Posted on April 2, 2023April 3, 2023

Millie and I arrived at Willow Bay in what felt like a Kansas windstorm. Lightning, rain, tree limbs in the road. And a tree limb in the grill of our truck.

We found our campsite — home for the next seven months — shook and howdied very briefly with our new employer. Got the lights turned on… electric heater and heated mattress… and unfreeze a frozen dinner.

This morning we were set upon by snow flurries at 25 degrees. By lunch we were basking in sunshine and 45 degree warmth.

Got tour with the boss. I now have a golf cart and access to a truck! Cell service is spotty… working on WiFi.

Weather has been less than ideal for camping… I’ll not have a lot of customers for the next week or so.

Glad you have safely reached your destination. Sorry the weather is not more welcoming!
Hope you packed a few “Texas Winter” clothes, to get you thru their early Spring.
Stay safe. Stay warm. Stay in touch.

Should I send you a care package of coats and long johns?

So glad you and Millie made it to your summer home. Did the branch damage your truck?

Yep… took out part of the grill. No damage to radiators or headlights. It’ll be a comprehensive vlIm. 🙁

I brought my cold weather motorbike base layers. All good.

Not a sweet Southern welcome for sure! Too bad about the truck.

Just now catching up with your adventure after finishing up my Netherlands and Belgium trip when I sent the WWII bike. My trip was great but exhausting. No leisurely drifting down the canals for us. The last week was especially strenuous. Which ended with a dog bite and my cabin mate coming down with COVID. It took a week at home to recover plus a visit to Doc’s quick care to finally get me on the mend. Your little home looks rather lonely but in a beautiful setting! Don’t freeze and no more fights with trees! Hugs!
