We — Michele, Millie, Bogie, Bella and I — arrived yesterday at our new summer home.
In order of importance we 1) leveled the trailer, 2) connected water and sewer and electricity and 3) got the WiFi password so we could continue watching… we’ve finally gotten around to it… ‘The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.’ Priorities.
Life in a camper is less rigorous than you might expect. Sure, the shower’s small. But in this, the new millennium, we have a fake fireplace, side-by-side refrigerator with an ice maker and room for a small carton of Ben & Jerry’s, heated vibrating recliners and a Smart TV.
Today we organized the pantry (new millennium conveniences, right?), erected the little fence for the dogs, drove around Bridgeport and — before tonight’s Mrs. Maisel — congratulated ourselves on a lifestyle that let’s us sit outside with a cup of coffee and watch the river slip ever-so-subtly past… in exchange for an embarrassingly few hours of mowing and greeting campers and cleaning restrooms. Yes, there is that occasionally odoriferous assignment but one finds one’s Zen where one is.
Tomorrow we become municipal employees and Tuesday the campground opens for the season.
I believe that calls for another cup of coffee.
Enjoy life.
Thanks, Jeff. I’m trying. 🙂
What a life! So glad you’re enjoying your version of retirement!
Thanks, Nellie!
